Dermal Fillers For Marionette Lines (AKA “Puppet Lines”)
As we age, we start to notice an array of changes that take place with not only our body but also with our face. Here are some examples of normal “wear and tear” that can characterize the “aging” face:
- Sagging skin
- Loose skin
- Crepey skin
- Less volume
- Deepening lines
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
While this is nearly inevitable, the degree of noticeable signs of aging can certainly vary from person to person.
A very common but bothersome area that patients come to us for treatment are the marionette lines. These are often referred to as “puppet lines”. Marionette lines are the lines that run South from the corners of the mouth that are created over time from repetitive expressions and volume depletion. As a result. the crease, fold, and shadowing effect sometimes leaves the person with a frown-like expression.
Fortunately, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers are used every day at Sistine Plastic Surgery in Pittsburgh to shape, contour, and add volume to various areas of the face. Products such as Restylane, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne, and Juvederm can be injected into the marionette lines to fill in those unwanted creases. This particular treatment can help to improve and soften the appearance of lines like these.
Other commonly injected areas of the face are the tear troughs, nasolabial folds (smile lines), mid-face, cheeks, and lips.
